What it is
The aluminium that frames your glass is the structural and thermal envelope of every window and external door in your home. Get the system wrong and the energy rating tanks, thermal bridging causes condensation, the sashes feel cheap, and the architecture is undermined. Get it right and the building reads as the architect intended.
Maison Glass works with the Australian-made systems we trust — AWS, Capral, Trend, Schueco, A&L — across three tiers of thermal performance. We do not specify systems carrying AS 2047 certification claims we cannot verify, which excludes most direct-from-China imports.
The 7-star energy efficiency provisions have made thermal performance the architectural conversation. WERS ratings, U-values, SHGCs and IGU build-ups now sit on every quote.

- U-value measures heat transfer through the assembly — lower is better; premium thermally-broken double-glazed IGUs reach around Uw 2.0. SHGC tunes solar heat gain to orientation. WERS ratings are published per system and IGU build-up.

- The standard Dulux Duralloy range — Monument, Surfmist, Dune, Pearl White Matt, Basalt — and the premium Interpon range, including matte and textured. Anodised in clear, bronze and black. Custom RAL match across all systems.

Frequently asked.
Can I get 7-star compliance with single-glazed aluminium?
Very rarely, and only with significant compensation elsewhere — high insulation, optimal orientation. The reliable path to 7-star is double-glazed IGUs in thermally-broken aluminium frames. WERS ratings are supplied at specification.
What is thermally-broken aluminium?
A polyamide bar separates the inside and outside extrusions, breaking the thermal bridge. U-values improve substantially — typically 30–50% better — at 40–80% higher cost than standard. It is required for most 7-star projects.
Can you match an existing window for an extension?
Yes — we identify the system, replicate the powder-coat finish and specify the same hardware where possible. We tell you up-front if the existing system is discontinued and what alternatives suit.
Will you specify imported aluminium systems?
No — we do not specify imported systems carrying AS 2047 certification claims we cannot verify. We recommend Australian-manufactured systems with verifiable certification.
